The City of Coronado is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Utility Supervisor in the Wastewater-Storm Water Division of the Public Services and Engineering Department. Under direction, to supervise, lead, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing skilled and technical maintenance duties in the operation and repair of mechanical equipment at wastewater and stormwater pumping facilities; to ensure work quality and adherence to work standards and established policies and procedures; and to perform the more technical and complex of tasks. The mission of the Public Services and Engineering Department is to maintain the City's physical infrastructure and provide the highest level of cost-effective maintenance for the City's beaches, facilities, parks, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems, and rights of way, while protecting the public's health and safety. The Wastewater-Storm Water Division is responsible for the maintenance of 18 varying sized pump and lift stations, 11 nuisance flow diverter stations, 45 miles of sewer and 8 miles of storm collection systems. Coronado maintains the collection systems with two combination hydro-jetter vehicles and CCTV vehicle & equipment. Under general direction, to supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of an assigned utilities division within the Public Services Department; functional areas may include wastewater, storm drain, street sweeping operations and related regulatory compliance programs and activities; to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Utility Manager.
