Primary Role Responsible for installing and repairing of service lines, water mains and hydrants. May operate heavy machinery.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Local travel within service territory
  • Valid state driver's license required

Nice To Haves

  • Water and/or wastewater certification(s) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Fix and maintain water meters
  • Install or remove meters
  • Flush fire hydrants
  • Inspect valves
  • Investigate water leaks
  • Help repair main water breaks
  • Turn water service on or off
  • Handle maintenance requests
  • Perform utility locates (mark underground lines before digging)
  • Keep accurate maintenance records
  • Maintain equipment and tools
  • Work with contractors when needed
  • Respond to customer questions or complaints
  • Provide meter readings for billing
  • Operate trucks, tools, and equipment
  • Work outside in all weather
  • Lift 50–100 pounds occasionally
  • Work in confined spaces (manholes, utility pits)
  • Must follow safety procedures
  • Must comply with Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) regulations
  • After 1 year, you will be on-call every 8–10 weeks for emergency work (1 week at a time)
