JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, completes daily work orders related to meter services including installation, termination, lockouts, repairs and resolving problems in the field. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Turn on water service for new customers, turn off service for closed or delinquent accounts including but not limited to: Lock off for non-payment. Lock off for “broken promise” accounts. Reconnecting for resumed payment. New accounts. Closing accounts. Meter readings for final billings in assigned territory. Respond to emergency calls for assistance. Investigate customer complaints including but not limited to: No water, no reason investigations. Low pressure tests based on customer complaints. 2nd leak follow up 30 days after first maintenance crew’s work. Investigations within right of way for customers. Replace defective meters and control valves, leaking gaskets, damaged boxes, and lids at the metering site. Perform scheduled change-outs of aged or malfunctioning meters, 3/4" and 1.5" in size. Inspects AMI and meter connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist on large meter crew performing maintenance on meters sized 2.5" to 10". Assist Meter Reading in facilitating safe access to metering sites by repairing reported defects and clearing impediments at the metering site. Performs repairs and preventative services on all water and wastewater infrastructure including but not limited to: Water services AMI Infrastructure Water services Fire Hydrants Valves Manholes
