About The Position

The Utility Services Representative (USR) position at Tacoma Public Utilities involves providing support for various residential and commercial construction activities related to utility services. The role requires effective communication with city personnel, governmental agencies, and the public to relay information about utility facilities and services. USRs will work independently on assignments, ensuring accurate information is provided to customers and assisting engineering and field staff with necessary data.

Requirements

• 1+ year of work experience in utility infrastructure or closely-related experience.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide information in support of residential and commercial construction activities associated with requests for new and existing utility services.
• Research property information and understand legal descriptions.
• Request right-of-way permits and easements for utility facility installations.
• Coordinate activities and track fees associated with customer requests for utility services.
• Provide technical administrative support to the Water Regulatory Compliance Group and coordinate cross-connection control program activities.
• Maintain computerized and manual records of utility installations and changes.
• Relay work assignments to crews under supervision.
• Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers and the public.
