About The Position

The purpose of this position is to maintain City grounds, right of ways, and facilities, roadways, drainage, and/or install and repair City stormwater infrastructure. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Digs holes, installs piping, and performs debris removal after job is complete. Loads truck with supplies and materials needed to complete the job. Provides catch basin maintenance as needed. Clear Right of Way by performing landscaping as needed per job. Supplemental Functions: Performs other similar duties as required.

Requirements

• Machinery and hand tools of the trade
• Utility construction
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
• Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking.
• Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 - 100 pounds frequently, or from 20 up to 50 pounds constantly.
• Reading and interpreting data
• Performing basic mathematical calculations
• Operating machinery and hand tools
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
