Performs customer service duties related to the distribution of the city's water utility. The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform customer service duties, such as reporting water usage, performing water meter service, and responding to high-bill complaints, all to ensure efficient water delivery and accurate billing. The nature of the work requires some training or experience to operate specialized equipment; many of the job functions are learned on the job. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Utility Service Lead Worker, but some leeway is granted for independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of this class are performed in an outdoor environment that may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards.
