About The Position

A University Utility Project Manager oversees the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of campus utility infrastructure (power, water, heating/cooling, telecom) to ensure reliable service and compliance . They manage budgets, schedules, and contractors for capital projects, serving as a key liaison between campus departments, engineering consultants, and utility providers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems design and construction, with specific expertise in aviation facilities. This role will involve collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the efficient and effective operation of MEP systems within airport environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or related field.
  • Experience in project management, specifically with infrastructure, utility systems, or construction.
  • Knowledge of utility design, drawings, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of university facilities, including high-voltage electrical, steam/chilled water, and building management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with project management software and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Define scope, develop, and execute construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects for campus utilities.
  • Infrastructure Oversight: Manage central plant operations, including chillers, boilers, power generation (Combined Heat & Power), and distribution networks.
  • Budget and Scheduling: Create cost estimates, manage project budgets, and maintain strict adherence to project timelines.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all projects adhere to federal, state, and local regulations and safety policies.
  • Coordination and Communication: Act as the liaison with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to resolve utility conflicts.
  • Emergency Response: Provide on-call technical support for utility failures and coordinate with facility management to restore services.
