About The Position

Liberty Senior Living is seeking an experienced UTILITY PREP COOK. The position is full-time and requires working during the day from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The cook will follow recipes and food production schedules based on resident census, record and report over-production, underproduction, and waste, and assist with the preparation of foods using methods designed to maintain nutrition, flavor, appearance, tenderness, and quality. The cook will actively communicate with culinary staff and the Sous Chef for inventory needs, usage, and shortages, and utilize safe food preparation methods throughout the food handling process. Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen is essential, as is ensuring the sanitation of dining areas. The cook will also assist with setup and breakdown for catered events and promote a positive customer experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working within a kitchen/culinary food service operation, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, or country club.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Follow recipes and food production schedules based on resident census.
  • Record and report over-production, underproduction, and waste.
  • Assist with preparation of foods using methods designed to maintain nutrition, flavor, appearance, tenderness, and quality.
  • Communicate with culinary staff and Sous Chef for inventory needs, usage, and shortages.
  • Utilize safe food preparation methods when receiving, preparing, storing, cooling, freezing, holding, transporting, serving, and reheating foods.
  • Monitor temperature records and checklists for holding and storing equipment to maintain safe food at all stages.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen at all times.
  • Ensure and assist with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas according to established checklists.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for catered events.
  • Ensure sanitation of dining rooms, including private dining room, community room, and activity room.
  • Assist with meal service during special events.
  • Inventory, clean, and sanitize catering supplies.
  • Promote a positive customer experience by maintaining a positive attitude when interacting with co-workers, residents, and guests.
  • Report any items in need of repair to the Sous Chef.
  • Perform all daily tasks in accordance with established facility and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist with resident evacuations and secure food service area in emergencies.
  • Attend in-service training and other work-related meetings as required or approved.
  • Carry out special projects as identified.
  • Assist with any other areas of the building as needed.
