The City of Peoria is seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to join the Butler Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) as a Utility Plant Operator I. This facility operates as a 10 million gallons per day (MGD) Membrane Bioreactor Facility, and this position represents the entry-level classification within Treatment Plant Operations. The primary responsibility of the Utility Plant Operator I is to monitor, operate, and perform preventative maintenance on treatment plants and remote sites. This includes conducting routine inspections, identifying issues with processes and equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Butler WRF and the Influent Pump Station. The role may also involve completing additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Operator or Supervisor. The position requires shift work, which may include weekends, holidays, standby duties, and call-back duty as necessary. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn about new and advanced wastewater treatment technologies and will be a team player committed to getting the job done effectively. Candidates should have a current Grade I or higher certification in wastewater treatment from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) or equivalent experience in a similar role. Alternatively, candidates with a certification from another state that is recognized by ADEQ may also be considered.
