About The Position

Performs general cleaning duties in Power Plant areas. Assists with general maintenance of plant facilities as requested. Sweeps and mops all floor areas of Power Plant daily per schedule. Washes walls and windows as necessary but at least semi-annually. Cleans and scours bathroom fixtures, replenishing supplies. dusts furniture and floors in office areas daily, mopping floors weekly. Removes and disposes of plant refuse. Assists with maintenance painting as assigned. Aids in maintenance pipe covering, pipe labeling and repair when requested. Maintains Power Plant sidewalks, sweeping as necessary and removing snow during the winter. Inventories and maintains housekeeping and office supplies, submitting to the Plant Supervisor orders for replacements as necessary. Performs various errands as requested. Note: These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this department.

Requirements

High School Graduate.
Approximately equal time spent sitting, standing and walking.
Must be physically able to inspect and direct maintenance and repair in all areas of the plant.
Bends, squats, kneels, climbs and works with arms above shoulder level.
Heavy lifting, full use of both hands and feet, good vision and voice discrimination required.
Operates power equipment, works at elevated levels and/or difficult positions, and may work irregular hours.
Ability to react immediately and effectively to emergency situations.
Superior initiative and judgment required to alter abnormal conditions before emergency conditions arise.
Exposure to chemicals, dust, noise, live steam, extreme temperatures, heavy metals and extremely hot high-pressure vessels.
