About The Position

This position involves performing various jobs within the warehouse or on the grounds as assigned. Responsibilities include pallet sorting, restacking, identifying products that do not meet customer specifications, reworking, and sanitation. The role requires participation as a member of the team, contributing to the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The individual will coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attend appropriate team meetings. As a team member, the individual will foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plans, budgets, and policy changes. The position also involves accepting responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader, and working with the team to resolve issues while actively looking for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization. Familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems, including quality, security, and company policies, is essential, as is the responsibility to maintain this familiarity and communicate concerns and improvement ideas. The position description is intended to guide the activities of the Utility Crew and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person in this role.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in a busy, noisy, dusty environment with temperature extremes.
• Must be able to work on feet for an entire shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain company-issued forklift certification.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English, and perform basic math.

Nice To Haves

• Previous forklift experience preferred.
• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
