Utility Operator - First Shift

The Gund Company has an immediate opening for a full-time Utility Operator I to join our team! Shift: First (7:00am - 3:30pm, M-F) Hourly Wage: $21 - $24 per hour based on experience Plant/Work Location: 10501-3 W. 133rd Avenue, Cedar Lake, IN 46303 About The Gund Company The Gund Company, a leader in engineered material solutions, specializes in customized electrical insulation products. With 12 global facilities, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality products and excellent customer service. We are currently seeking a Utility Operator to join our team. Utility Operator Job Summary As a Utility Operator I, you will play a key role in supporting production operations, ensuring that parts are fabricated to meet work order specifications and customer requirements. This includes operating and setting up various CNC and non-CNC production machinery, conducting manual assembly tasks, and adhering to safety and quality standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience.
- Strong basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Flexibility to work overtime and adjust to emergency production needs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with radial arm saws or similar equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate production equipment such as lathes, mills, saws, and slitters.
- Perform manual assembly and fabrication tasks using hand tools and machines, as necessary.
- Inspect products to ensure they meet company quality, quantity, and customer standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety protocols.
- Assist with troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance on production machinery as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
