About The Position

ATI is seeking a Utility Operator. The company is a leader in materials science, solving complex challenges through advanced, integrated process technologies. They are looking for high-performing individuals to join their team. This role involves a variety of tasks including maintaining licenses for and operating material handling equipment, performing daily maintenance checks, loading and unloading materials from trucks and furnaces, assisting forge operations, managing scrap, coating materials, and conducting hourly checks of car furnaces. The operator is also responsible for following safety regulations, maintaining good housekeeping, and reporting any defective materials or unusual conditions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Required to pass IME screening
  • Must be able to read, write and use ordinary arithmetic including decimals and fractions.
  • Work from maps, schedules, written or oral instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of Manufacturing experience
  • Up to and including 3 to 12 months of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an up-to-date license to operate sweeper, all sizes of fork trucks and all press material handling equipment.
  • Maintain and record daily maintenance checks on equipment and arrange for repairs as required.
  • Move, load or unload material from trucks using overhead crane or other material handling equipment.
  • Load furnaces using care not to damage floor or jambs.
  • Use inside overhead crane to load and unload car furnaces as needed.
  • Check material identity prior to shipping from the press facility.
  • Assist the forge operations when canning material, doing die changes, upset forging, hot transferring material to the GFM or water quenching.
  • Identify properly, tag, weigh, band on pallets and ship all scrap generated at the press to its designated storage area.
  • Coat material using a variety of coatings as specified on the mill order traveler.
  • Assist in maintaining the hourly checks of the car furnaces and maintain up-to-date certification on using hand-held pyrometers.
  • Follow all prescribed safety regulations.
  • Help maintain good housekeeping of the shop and equipment.
  • Detect and report defective materials, improper operations or unusual conditions to proper supervision.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed
