About The Position

This position is for a Utility Operator PR06 in the Cook/Pack department, primarily, and Formulation, secondarily, at the Waterloo KPR facility. The role involves training on and performing various operator jobs within these departments, acting as a backup for all positions on the floor. The Utility Operator will also help train new and existing team members, cover breaks and absences, and coordinate team member work schedules for the Production Supervisor. Requirements

  • Willing to work overtime and weekends, as needed
  • Required to become forklift certified within 30 days of starting position
  • Basic computer skills to navigate systems and perform data entry
  • Ability to record information using company-provided forms and procedures
  • Ability to accurately perform math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
  • Ability to report to work as scheduled and work scheduled hours to meet job expectations
  • Flexibility to work other jobs, as needed
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with others while demonstrating positive interpersonal skills
  • Communicates effectively with all team members and management
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Ability to identify, act with a sense of urgency, and resolve problems/inconsistencies, getting help from management or others, as needed
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net / beard guard, steel-toed boots, and gloves
  • Must be on an “active” employment status (for internal applicants)
  • Must not exceed more than 4 attendance points at the time of application (for internal applicants)
  • Must not have received a written warning in the past six (6) months or a written warning with suspension in the past 12 months from the date of application (for internal applicants)
  • Must be willing and able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 lbs. below waist, at waist level, and above shoulder level
  • Must be willing and able to stand, walk, bend stoop, twist stretch, climb, push, pull, and reach above, below, and at shoulder level
  • Must be willing and able to use both arms/hands and legs/feet to operate forklifts or electric pallet and hand jacks
  • Must be willing and able to work while standing or walking on hard floors for a period of up to 8-10 hours/day
  • Must be willing and able to climb up and down stairs/ladders to get to/from work areas and to work at elevated levels and various heights and in confined spaces, as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work in an environment where extreme temperatures range seasonally from hot/warm to cold/freezing, where conditions may be damp and/or wet, and concrete floors may be slippery in some areas
  • Must be willing and able to perform repetitive motions, flex/grip with wrists/hands, and use tools (e.g., box knife, metal scraper)

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Experience with Inventory Control preferred

Responsibilities

  • Trains on and performs all jobs in Cook/Pack (primarily) and Formulation (the Utility Operator is a backup position to all the positions on the floor). Jobs include, but may not be limited to: Oven Operator, Blender Operator, Work In Process Operator, Raw Product Flow Operator, Cooker Operator, Forklift Operator, Machine Operator, Materials Handler Operator, Spice Cooler Operator, Grinder Operator, Mixer Operator, Raw Receiving, and Shipping
  • Helps train new and existing team members on operator jobs
  • Responsible for covering breaks and absences in Cook/Pack (primarily) and Formulation
  • Coordinates team member work schedules for Production Supervisor
  • All team members are responsible for safety, including but not limited to personal safety and food safety
  • Complies with all company and USDA policies/guidelines and reports known or suspected violations
  • Attends monthly and annual required training (e.g., Safety, HACCP, HR topics, LOTO, PIT)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
