The Utility Operator II position at Citrus County BOCC involves operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This full-time role requires the operator to perform skilled tasks related to the repair and maintenance of County water and wastewater facilities. The primary work schedule is set for four days a week, from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a structured work environment while ensuring essential services are maintained. The position also includes emergency response duties, where employees may be required to work outside their normal scope of work during emergencies, which may involve driving or operating county vehicles and equipment. In this role, the operator will be responsible for a variety of essential functions, including driving and operating county vehicles, reading and understanding engineering drawings, performing analyses, and making operational adjustments as necessary. The operator will inspect facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with established standards, serve as the lead operator of water and/or wastewater plants, and perform maintenance and repairs on various systems and equipment. Regular tasks will also include calibrating water analysis equipment, collecting and testing water samples, and maintaining grounds of the assigned area. The operator will be expected to maintain effective communication with County staff, elected officials, and the public, ensuring courteous and effective relations at all times.
