Must have basic proficiency of English language to comply with verbal and written directions, signs, policies and procedures.  This role will work the overnight shift: Thursday: 1am-7am, Thursday-Saturday: 7pm-7:30am.   As a Utility Mechanic, you’ll perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks to keep our equipment running safely and efficiently. You’ll work on boiler and ammonia systems, as wel as cooling towers, valves, and pumps throughout the wastewater facility. Additionally you'll troubleshoot issues and support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement. You’ll also help train junior technicians and contribute to a safe, organized, and high-performing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience
  • Knowledge boilers, ammonia systems, water treatment and mechanical systems preferred
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move throughout your shift
  • Comfortable working around powders, chemicals, and food allergens
  • Flexible to work overtime based on business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Advanced math and reading skills
  • Able to read blueprints and create rough sketches
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment
  • Knowledge boilers, ammonia systems, water treatment and mechanical systems preferred
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and self-motivated
  • Willing to learn and adapt to changing tasks

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain boilers, pumps, valves, and water treatment systems
  • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving projects
  • Clean and inspect machinery for wear or damage
  • Monitor and maintain plant systems (boilers, ammonia, HVAC, etc.)
  • Use manuals, drawings, and technical resources to diagnose issues
  • Assist with emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance
  • Train and support lower-level technicians
  • Follow safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
