Utility Maintenance Technician

About The Position
Assure all underground electrical and fiber assets are located in an accurate and timely fashion. Provide aid in ROW and other inspections.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- Possess a basic knowledge of electrical systems
- Must be able to read and interpret computerized electrical map distribution maps.
- Must be able to comply with all safety requirements in DEPA’s Safety Manual.
- Must be able to walk and get in and out of a pick-up truck.
- Must be able to carry locating equipment required to perform locates.
Responsibilities
- Accurately locates and marks underground electrical distribution lines, fiber optic lines and documents with photography, or other means necessary, the marked location.
- Prepare and maintain times sheets and records for each locate performed
- Perform inspection of poles, services, ROW, and distribution equipment as needed and document through photography, or other means necessary.
- Reports any maintenance needs as encountered to supervisor
- Receives locate requests via Mississippi 811 (telephone or e-mail), supervisor and other DEPA employees
- Any work deemed necessary by immediate supervisor, staff, or management
