The City of Fairburn is seeking an experienced, skilled professional that has extensive experience performing manual work functions associated with the construction, repair and maintenance of water, sewer, and storm water system in the City of Fairburn. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III is the advance, journey-level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series that performs the more complex duties required to ensure that City infrastructure, systems, and facilities to which assigned, are operated, and maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, inspecting, and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the operation, maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and systems. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III at this level receives only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. The incumbent may be assigned as a Lead for a Utilities Maintenance Crew. This class is distinguished from the Water/ Sewer Superintendent in that the latter has responsibility for assigning and directing the work of staff and individually is capable of performing the most complex duties assigned to the division. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III have the primary focus on providing superior customer service to the citizens and customers of the City of Fairburn while handling a variety of water, sewer, and storm water issues. The incumbent must maintain professionalism and courtesy when exposed to stressful situations. Reports to the Water Superintendent. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III position is a non-exempt hourly position responsible for performing manual work functions associated with the construction, repair and maintenance of water, sewer, and storm water system in the City of Fairburn.
