About The Position

As a Utility Locator 1, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of construction and excavation projects by accurately identifying and marking the location of underground utilities. You will be the face of Wire 3 in the communities that we intend to serve and responsible for providing the best experience possible working in or around public and private property. Your work will help prevent costly damage and service interruptions, thereby protecting both the public and the environment. You will utilize specialized equipment and technology to detect various types of utilities. Collaboration with contractors, engineers, and local authorities will be essential to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of projects while minimizing risks associated with underground utilities.

Requirements

  • The required skills for this position include proficiency in using utility locating equipment, which is essential for accurately identifying underground lines.
  • Strong analytical skills will be utilized to interpret utility maps and assess the information gathered during field surveys.
  • Effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with various stakeholders and ensuring that everyone is informed about utility locations.
  • Attention to detail is necessary for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Experience in utility locating or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification in utility locating or related training.
  • Previous experience working in construction or excavation environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred skills, such as familiarity with GIS technology, will enhance your ability to analyze and present utility data effectively.
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to locate and mark underground utilities using advanced detection equipment.
  • Interpret utility maps and plans to ensure accurate identification of utility lines.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to provide updates and address any concerns regarding utility locations.
  • Maintain detailed records of utility locations and survey results for future reference.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
