Great Plains Communications is looking for an experienced Utility Locator/Construction Laborer in the Creighton, NE area. This is a seasonal position working March through November 2026 This position is responsible for accurately locating, marking, and documenting underground copper, coaxial, and fiber optic communication facilities in accordance with One Call requirements, company standards, and applicable regulations. This role also provides general construction labor support to communication construction and maintenance crews, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality field operations. Duties include but are not limited to: Locates, marks and documents underground communication facilities accurately while communicating conflicts and discrepancies. Will communicate any concerns to ensure the safety and timely completion of the project. Performs general construction labor duties and provides assistance to field support as needed. Follows all company safety policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual. Responds timely to One Call locate requests. Prepares and/or completes all documents such as One Call locates, sketches, time reports, and expense reports, as required by policy with emphasis on quality and timeliness. Ensures all equipment is safely operated, inspected and maintained to manufacturer guidelines. Performs inspections of equipment as required while maintaining the condition of vehicles, tools and locating equipment. Presents a courteous, well-groomed image to customers, managers, co-workers and others both on and off the job, by representing the company in a positive manner. Ensures all company property utilized reflects pride in the company. Maintain awareness of surrounding utilities and potential risks during locating activities. Must have the ability to dig and lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently
