Job Summary: We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Utility Job Locates Coordinator to join our telecommunications team. The ideal candidate will coordinate the safe and timely marking of underground utility lines related to telecommunications infrastructure. In this role, you will work closely with contractors, municipalities, and utility companies to ensure accurate and compliant locates for all excavation projects, preventing potential damage to existing telecommunications systems .

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree or relevant certification in utility locating or telecommunications is a plus).
Previous experience in utility locating coordination, preferably in telecommunications or construction, is highly preferred.
Solid understanding of telecommunications infrastructure (e.g., fiber optics, copper wiring, conduits).
Familiarity with state and local regulations regarding underground utility safety and telecom-specific standards.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using utility locate software and relevant technology to track and manage locate requests.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to spot discrepancies or issues and resolve them proactively.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
Valid driver’s license (if site visits are required).

Responsibilities

Manage and process locate requests for telecommunications facilities, including fiber optic cables, copper lines, and other related infrastructure.
Coordinate with contractors, municipalities, and other stakeholders to schedule and ensure accurate utility locates for excavation projects.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing underground utility safety and telecommunications infrastructure.
Review and validate incoming locate requests, ensuring all details are complete and accurate before scheduling.
Liaise with field technicians to ensure proper and precise markings for telecom utilities, preventing damages during excavation.
Maintain up-to-date records of all locate requests, including statuses, completed locates, and relevant documentation.
Monitor and track the progress of locate requests to ensure timelines are met and follow up on any delayed or unresolved locates.
Respond to customer and contractor inquiries regarding locate statuses and assist with resolving any issues related to markings or utility access.
Provide field support when necessary, including coordinating re-locates or resolving any disputes related to utility markings.
Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training to ensure adherence to industry safety standards, specifically those related to telecommunications infrastructure.
Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to ensure seamless coordination and accurate job locates.
Identify opportunities for improving the locate process and contribute to process improvements.
