About The Position

The Utility Locate Technician role at ELM Utility Services involves working independently in the Mt. Vernon, Washington area to locate and mark underground utilities, ensuring the safety and reliability of essential services such as gas, electric, and communications. Technicians will utilize state-of-the-art technology and company-provided equipment to perform their duties efficiently and effectively, contributing to the community's infrastructure safety.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Must possess a valid passport or enhanced driver's license for occasional travel across the Canadian border.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in damage prevention or utility locating is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office.
• Locate and mark underground utilities including electric and gas lines using marking paint and other tools.
• Complete all necessary digital documentation and paperwork related to locate requests.
• Receive daily route and locate requests via a handheld smartphone from the vehicle.
• Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner as directed.
• Work periodic overtime and participate in weekend on-call rotation as needed.
