About The Position

This classification involves skilled journey level work installing, maintaining, and repairing both high and low voltage electrical/electronic systems found in City water and sewage treatment plants and pumping systems. An employee in this position repairs electrical/electronic components; conducts preventative maintenance; disassembles and reassembles electrical equipment; uses various meter and ground testing equipment; interprets diagrams; conducts thermos scans; and maintains related records. This position also orders repair parts; sets up generators for City functions; and responds to emergency calls.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of GED equivalency diploma.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program as an electrician and attainment of journeyman rank.
  • Reasonable progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of water, sewer, and reuse treatment plant instrumentation/electronics.
  • Reasonable progressively responsible experience troubleshooting, repairing and installing industrial electrical equipment including but not limited to switchgear, transfer switches, flow meters, SCADA equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must obtain a valid Florida driver's license prior to hire.
  • Certifications required: Florida or Broward County Journeyman Electrical license or a Master Electrical license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, alters, repairs, and maintains both high and low voltage motors, generators, switchgear, motor controllers, transformers, wiring system electronic components, and other related equipment.
  • Checks electrical ladder diagrams for repairs on electrical equipment.
  • Performs electrical connections and disconnects.
  • Conducts thermos scans.
  • Installs FVD in water and waste plants.
  • Maintains accurate records of the maintenance and repair history of electrical equipment on which work is performed.
  • Orders parts for repairs.
  • Sets up generators for City functions.
  • Responds to emergency calls.
  • Performs related work as required.
