About The Position

We are currently searching for an experienced Utility Engineer to support our East Gulf Region located in Mobile, AL. This position involves engineering design for various linear utility projects, including water and wastewater, electric, telecommunications, and natural gas. The Utility Engineer will be responsible for planning and managing various projects, overseeing and guiding designers and drafters, and ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of projects while adhering to company standards for quality assurance and quality control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 2 - 5 years of design experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenRoads, and InRoads
• Ability to work well with other related disciplines and coordinate design activities for timely completion and within resource budgets
• Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Valid driver’s license
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Nice To Haves

• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
• Utility experience preferred
• Previous client relationships are a plus

Responsibilities

• Engineering design for various linear utility projects, including water and wastewater, electric, telecommunications and natural gas
• Planning and management of various projects
• Oversee and guide designers and drafters to deliver linear utility projects
• Apply established and well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies or standards
• Perform design computations, check plans or computations, and develop quantity takeoffs
• Adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results
• Identify and analyze problems using reasoning to arrive at conclusions
• Apply standard practices and techniques to accomplish work assignments
• Understand and adhere to assigned phase and task schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of project
• Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies
• Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members
• Attend appropriate team meetings
• Actively look for ways, and reinforce the actions needed, to improve performance within the larger organization
• Prepare transportation reports and plans based on project analyses and assessments
• Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
• Work closely and effectively communicate with team members
