About The Position

Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country's food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers' products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers!

Requirements

  • Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • Required Experience: 6 months commercial driving experience
  • Class A CDL License Required
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meets PFG Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) requirements for past 3 years
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Meet PFG FMCSA Clearinghouse Requirements
  • Pass road test
  • Able to secure new DOT Medical Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location
  • Must be able to work the assigned schedule required for the position
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English

  • Preferred Experience: 1 - 3 Years Commercial driving experience
  • Doubles Endorsements
  • Foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet)
  • Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e., POD)
  • Customer service-related work experience

Responsibilities

  • Flexible driver position when routes do not have coverage, so routes do not need to be cut.
  • May link to a domicile yard versus OpCo location.
  • Perform all required safety check (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately report any and all safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
  • Check and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork and procedures at end of shift.
  • Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complies with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements, adhering to DOT, state, and company policies.
  • Upholds overall safety standards and follows guidelines for the proper handling of freight throughout the delivery process.
  • Train newer drivers as necessary when route coverage is not required
