About The Position

The position involves performing general duties as directed by the room operator, including delivering trash and recyclables to the appropriate room, utilizing a hand-operated pallet jack to transport materials, and maintaining cleanliness in the work area. The role requires lifting, moving, and inspecting products, as well as participating in team activities and adhering to Simmons Operating systems principles. The job also includes physical activities such as standing, bending, and working in a cool environment.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand freely and move about the facility.
• Must be able to perform active range of motion movements as needed.
• Must be able to work in a cool environment (down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit) for at least 8 hours.
• Occasional climbing stairs and simple grasping.
• Constant standing, bending at the neck and waist, power grasping, pushing/pulling, and reaching below shoulder level.
• Use of vision in a loud environment around equipment/machinery.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for poultry or food manufacturing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Delivers trash and recyclables to appropriate room.
• Utilizes hand-operated pallet jack to transport trash gondolas filled with cardboard, pallet, and plastic to the recycle room.
• Lifts tote into bailer and operates the machine.
• Moves bailed product into trailer.
• Organizes recyclables and moves non-recycled products into appropriate bins.
• Tears down totes and breaks them down for loading into trash gondola.
• Inspects product on metal detector and visually inspects material when metal detector goes off.
• Builds totes as directed and visually inspects labels.
• Moves or delivers rejected product from the line.
• Assembles and disassembles items as directed.
• Refers issues to room operator.
• Performs basic cleanup and maintains cleanliness of the room.
• Assists in weekly sanitation in accordance with set procedures.
• Demonstrates correct lock-out tag procedures.
• Participates as a member of the team in ongoing development and communication.
• Identifies areas lacking cohesiveness and works to resolve issues.
