About The Position

The Utility Construction Inspector at Optimuss Inc. is responsible for inspecting sewer and water lines, electrical installations, and site rehabilitation projects. This role serves as a liaison between clients, engineers, contractors, and customers, ensuring compliance with specifications, city codes, and state regulations. The inspector will utilize their knowledge of construction management principles to perform inspections, testing, and quality control on utility systems, while also addressing complex problems and coordinating contractor work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of six years of utility construction and/or utility inspection experience, preferably in Electric, Water, and/or Wastewater.
  • Valid driver's license required prior to employment and must be maintained during employment.
  • Experience inspecting Water/Wastewater systems for at least 1 year.
  • Experience inspecting overhead and underground electrical systems for at least 1 year.
  • Confined Space Certification and OSHA 10 Hour Compliance for Construction preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • FDOT Traffic - Intermediate Level Certification.
  • Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification.
  • Competent Person Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect sewer and water line installations, overhead and underground electrical work, and site rehabilitation projects.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, engineers, contractors, and customers to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Perform onsite quality control inspections of utility systems and site rehabilitation work.
  • Conduct testing of utility systems installed by contractors in accordance with specifications and regulations.
  • Read and interpret engineering plans and blueprints, consulting with senior engineers on plan changes.
  • Investigate and resolve field and construction-related problems.
  • Manage job updates, reschedule inspections, and maintain daily logs of inspected projects.
  • Compose correspondence and reports related to inspections and project status.
  • Conduct safety meetings and enforce safety rules and practices.
