About The Position

The City of Albany is seeking a dedicated Field Representative II to join the Public Works Utility Billing Department. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service to utility customers, managing delinquent accounts, resolving complaints, verifying meter readings, and performing service maintenance work on water meters. The position involves communication with customers through various channels and requires a commitment to high-quality service and community support.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience in data entry and meter reading.
• Valid Oregon driver's license and a driving record that meets the City's standards.
• Knowledge of meter reading devices and utility billing procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with a utility company or water department is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the collection of delinquent accounts and resolve customer complaints.
• Verify meter readings and perform service maintenance work on water meters.
• Initiate and terminate utility services as needed.
• Compile reports for shut-offs and cut-ins of water service.
• Operate a company vehicle safely while adhering to city and state laws.
• Investigate customer complaints or inquiries and communicate findings effectively.
• Advise customers on city policies and procedures regarding utility services.
• Maintain and replace meters and repair damaged meter boxes and lids.
• Trim overgrown vegetation around meter boxes and notify customers of issues.
• Represent the City of Albany in a professional and courteous manner.
