Job Summary: Functions as a member of the healthcare team performing duties required for ancillary support to the surgical center and its staff. Maintains supplies and storage areas throughout the facility. Obtains nourishments as needed for recovering patients, cleans kitchen areas, transports patients to vehicles Prepares case cart for all scheduled cases. Balances multiple duties including receiving all incoming orders, inventory maintenance, and some computer work.

Responsibilities

  • Case Preparation
  • Select and assemble all sterile disposable supplies for a specified procedure-using physician’s preference card.
  • Stock O.R. with any needed Arthroscopy fluid, suction canisters, etc.
  • Stock admitting room cabinets, PACU cabinets, bathrooms.
  • Storage and organization of all supplies and storage areas.
  • Assist in cleaning O.R. when needed; includes mopping floor, changing trash, and wiping down equipment.
  • Receiving
  • Receives all incoming orders and updates computer system.
  • Discharges patients via wheelchair and assist them into their vehicles.
  • Assist in PACU as needed: dressing patients, getting refreshments, cleaning patient cubicles after discharge.
  • Stocking cabinets in PACU, admitting, bathrooms, and kitchen.
  • Stocking blanket warmer.
  • Assemble patient belonging bags.
  • Miscellaneous
  • Assists in setting up, organizing, stocking, and cleaning up all supply and linen areas.
  • Assists in inventory, storage, and retrieval of supplies and equipment.
  • Helps clean and maintain rooms, equipment, and furniture according to standards and Center policy.
  • Maintaining Biomedical Waste Closet: have boxes made and ready for discards, package boxes up for transport.
  • Assists with emergency procedures as directed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and Center’s communications and documents.
  • Communicates a positive and caring attitude towards patients, peers, staff, physicians, and all other contacts.
  • All other tasks assigned by the Director, Surgical center
