The primary role of the Utilities Technician is to continuously improve the reliability, efficiency, and utilization of plant utility systems and equipment. This is accomplished by utilizing mechanical and electrical expertise in the operation and precise installation, maintenance, and repair of plant utility systems and equipment followed by concise and accurate documentation of all activities and observations. Knows and follows HACCP program and principles, USDA guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices. The Utilities Technician works closely with all plant personnel to support improved utility system and equipment reliability as well as efficient and cost-effective use of plant resources. Will be required to work with and develop equipment and ideas deemed to be confidential information and/or trade secrets owned by the company. This person will be required to protect the company's rights in and ownership of those trade secrets and confidential information A solid background in mechanical and electrical systems as well as specific training in ammonia refrigeration and industrial boiler and HVAC operation is critical to the success of the Utilities Technician. This position requires excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to read and work from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and control schematics. The incumbent must have the ability to learn and effectively use various software programs including the Company’s Maintenance Management System and various building management systems
