About The Position

The Utilities Supervisor will oversee the coordination and direction of the installation and maintenance of the County water and sewer systems.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in a related field
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Implementation of OSHA safety requirements
  • Utilities knowledge as related to water and sewer infrastructure
  • Mechanical knowledge
  • Heavy equipment operations knowledge and experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excavation practices
  • Manage one's own time and the time of others
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with coworkers
  • Concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
  • Operate and solve problems independently
  • Regular work attendance is required
  • Flagger Certification
  • Class A CDL

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the installation, maintenance, and repair of County water and sewer lines by scheduling,
  • overseeing, and assisting the work of subordinates
  • Supervise the upkeep of County materials, tools, and equipment to ensure that the property is kept in a safe
  • and proper working condition and reasonable service life is assured
  • Monitor equipment condition and establish reasonable life cycle goals and long-term equipment
  • overhaul and/or replacement schedules
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of service provided, warranties on equipment, and other related
  • documents for all facilities and fixed equipment through the utilization of a maintenance planner and
  • an asset management system (AMS)
  • Meet with service personnel as necessary to ensure a good understanding of requirements to maintain
  • equipment and systems
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the management of the department budget by providing recommendations during
  • its development and overseeing its implementation
  • Ensure that department has and utilizes appropriate supplies, equipment, and facilities by recommending purchases,
  • monitoring on-going maintenance, and providing training
  • Monitor departmental effectiveness through daily staff interaction and contact with management concerning service
  • delivery and improvements
  • Reserves the right to make hiring and firing recommendations that carry significant weight
  • Perform related tasks as required
