About The Position

The Utilities Superintendent is responsible for the onsite production of construction projects, particularly in the civil sector. This role includes directing craftspeople and subcontractors, ensuring quality control, and maintaining compliance with plans and specifications. The superintendent will manage production schedules, conduct safety meetings, and oversee the job site safety program. The position requires a strong focus on safety, quality control, and effective communication with various stakeholders including owners, engineers, and project managers.

Requirements

• Experience in underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm drainage installation.
• Experience in construction methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to control and supervise large groups.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must have the visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

• A four-year degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety rules and regulations, inspecting self-performed work and all work performed.
• Eliminate unsafe work practices and make necessary corrections.
• Maintain excellent quality on projects from start to finish.
• Plan and supervise foreman and/or craft workers, determining construction methods and manpower levels.
• Coordinate assigned work with different crafts and departments.
• Maintain liaison with owners, engineers, and project managers to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Assist in resolving construction problems as required.
• Monitor craft compliance with project safety and contract requirements.
• Maintain communication with Employee Services to resolve disputes and requisition manpower.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the General Superintendent.
