About The Position

Woolpert is hiring an H&H Modeling Team Leader to join our dynamic Water Utilities Team at our Houston office. This position reports to the Engineering Services Leader and is responsible for managing a team of technical staff in multiple offices and includes promoting the growth of the team and individual team members. The H&H Modeling Team Leader is a strong communicator (written/oral) and collaborator capable of leading technical staff and working with project management staff. Team Projects include, but are not limited to, watershed flood studies, urban drainage studies, site drainage design, and contribution to design plansets. A wide range of modeling and design software and processes will be used within the team to efficiently identify and exceed client needs and expectations. The Team Leader must have managerial and technical problem-solving skills to meet the team’s challenges.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10+ years professional experience required.
  • Experience in personnel management.
  • Strong preference for candidates located in Houston area.
  • Provide technical expertise in hydrology/hydraulics and stormwater management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with H&H modeling software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ICM, PC-SWMM, XP-SWMM.
  • Experience with water/wastewater modeling or design is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage project tasks.
  • Detail oriented, with a focus on quality control and data management.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Access).

  • Experience with delegating work, writing proposals, or project budgeting.
  • Experience with Civil 3D and development of design plansets.
  • Desire for personal leadership development.
  • Ability to analyze, assess, and prioritize multiple requests.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of technical staff in multiple offices.
  • Promote the growth of the team and individual team members.
  • Perform goal setting for the team and conduct performance reviews.
  • Direct and delegate technical tasks associated with H&H modeling projects.
  • Provide quality control of H&H deliverables.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers/Project Leads for resource planning.
  • Run regularly scheduled team meetings and communicate corporate initiatives.
  • Communicate issues affecting technical task work quality, project schedule, or budget.
  • Post job requisitions, interview, and hire technical team members.
  • Develop fee estimates for bids and proposals.
