Supports and leads efforts at the New Bern Mill that include an injury-free environment through role modeling safe behavior, active involvement in safety activities, the effective use of the Safety Leadership knowledge, skills, and tools, and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment Completes the First Line Leader (FLL) Onboarding/Proficiency Curriculum and Safety Leadership Certification Understands and leads the crew’s management, operation, and performance of many of the mill’s environmental systems Understands the products we make, how our Utilities processes can affect the quality of those products, and how to protect our products from adverse impacts as a result of our operation Manages a shift of hourly operators in the Utilities department; safely and responsibly keeps all necessary equipment functioning to meet mill needs Coordinates and leads efforts to support high performance work teams Leadership role in ensuring team member relations, efforts, and processes are in place to maximize team member engagement and results Leads, provides guidance, and/or supports teams as needed to achieve team goals, daily responsibilities, and overall achievement of mill goals Takes a leadership role in the training and development processes for each member of the crew Manages daily shift operations in their assigned area and a focus on continuous improvement Provides feedback, coaching, support and, when necessary, take corrective measures, to ensure all team members have a positive, productive, and safe work environment Communicates as needed with team members and mill leadership for resolution of safety, environmental, quality, reliability, cost, production, and personnel issues Communicates and leads the application of International Paper and facility policies and standards Hold meaningful one-to-one discussions with members of the utilities crew; set clear expectations for both team and individuals and motivate team members to strive for success Provide leadership to troubleshoot, understand the causes of, and correct all issues Develops, maintains, and supports use of reliable methods for all processes and their improvements. Maintains and develops team relationships Manage the Safety Programs such as Lockout, Hot Work, Process Break, and Vessel Entry
