About The Position

The Utilities Dispatcher I is responsible for monitoring and responding to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operations and equipment malfunctions within the City's potable water systems. This role coordinates operational activities with various department personnel and agencies, ensuring effective communication and response to emergencies and customer inquiries.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in customer service functions, including operation of a two-way communication device and personal computer.
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping is preferred.
• Valid Class D driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor video camera feeds for unusual or emergency situations and notify appropriate authorities.
• Oversee the operation of water plant pumping and treatment equipment from a central control center, generating work orders and dispatching crews as needed.
• Receive and respond to requests for utility line locates, processing same-day requests and maintaining radio contact with mobile units.
• Address emergency utility issues, determining the nature of the emergency and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Identify fault alarms and dispatch crews accordingly to resolve issues.
• Maintain records in automated systems to ensure data integrity and compliance with policies.
• Process transactions and prepare necessary documentation as per established procedures.
• Create training materials and assess trainee skills for dispatch operations.
• Prepare and present reports related to customer service and departmental functions.
