About The Position

The Utilities Business Analyst, under general supervision, provides utility consumption and procurement analysis, cost analysis, and technical review. Develop standard reports and provide analysis and feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area such as engineering, statistics, mathematics, etc., or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of experience related to analysis and reporting of financials or utility costs, metering issues, system utilization, revenues/expenses, energy use, etc.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions in English and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
  • This position is security sensitive.
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU regulations and procedures.
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
  • Works to cover shifts, or take emergency call, on evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis & Reports- Performs research related to utility cost data to ensure high quality reports and conclusions.
  • Prepares reports and summaries for management and/or users including financial status reports, meter / sensor problem reports, progress summaries, system utilization reports, overall revenues and expenses, utility billing process, and overall energy use and energy use index.
  • Develops standard reports and provides analysis and feedback.
  • Reviews and analyzes utility invoices for approval.
  • Utility Consumption- Provides utility consumption and procurement analysis, cost analysis and technical review.
  • Provides consumption information to provide input for customer budgeting.
  • Rate Model- Provides rate and recovery model updates, analyzes results and ensures rate accuracy.
  • Meter / Sensor Analysis- Identifies meter / sensor issues.
  • Departmental Objectives & Safety-Contributes to a safe work environment by reporting accidents and unsafe working conditions, uses proper personal protective equipment, follows safety procedures outlined in Material Safety Data Sheets, and participates in safety training.
