About The Position

The Utilities Customer Care Specialist is responsible for providing technical clerical support to utility customers, addressing service inquiries, complaints, and payment processing. This role involves maintaining customer databases, preparing statistical reports, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem resolution. The position requires a professional demeanor and adherence to established guidelines while assisting citizens with their utility needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduation with 2 years of experience in high volume customer service or call center operations.
  • Experience with a government organization is preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist citizens with inquiries and service requests, providing responses within established policies and procedures.
  • Process payments received through various channels and verify payment amounts against bills.
  • Balance and reconcile cash receipts daily and prepare bank deposits.
  • Communicate with customers via face-to-face interactions, phone, and email to resolve concerns and explain City procedures.
  • Maintain the customer information system database, including tracking service requests and work orders.
  • Prepare and process applications for establishing or terminating utility service accounts.
  • Calculate and input debit and credit adjustments for accounts as necessary.
  • Make billing adjustments and initiate actions to reissue bills when required.
  • Provide information to citizens regarding ongoing projects or activities.
  • Screen files for outdated materials and prepare documents for destruction or archiving.
  • Scan documents into the document imaging system for retention.
