About The Position

The Utah to Legislative Assistant position is a temporary, full-time role designed for individuals re-entering the workforce after a career break. This position is part of the Return Utah program, which provides transitional support and on-the-job training within the Department of Natural Resources in Salt Lake City. The role focuses on assisting with legislative priorities, conducting research, and facilitating communication within the department during the legislative session.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist DNR administration with coordinating the department's legislative priorities and efforts.
• Research, track, and monitor legislation directly impacting the department.
• Facilitate cooperation with the department's divisions and office legislative liaisons.
• Communicate relevant updates and coordination meetings between department and division leadership, and internal legislative liaisons.
• Prepare presentation materials, including fact sheets, backgrounders, position statements, and messaging for committee meetings.
• Attend appropriations and standing committee meetings when possible.
• Develop content for both internal and external audiences, like newsletters, media releases, briefings, and editorials.
• Create digital content for the department website and social media platforms.
• Assist administrative staff with phone calls, constituent service requests, general inquiries, and other duties as assigned.
