USW Material Control Specialist - 2nd Shift

About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Material Control Specialist (MCS) to join its organization. The position involves handling all aspects of material handling functions including but not limited to receiving, transporting, storing, and ensuring accurate inventory in the warehouse and other store locations within the plant. The role requires opening containers using hand tools, counting, weighing, and sampling materials, and utilizing computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying, and recording information. The MCS will handle the loads and unloads of materials onto or from pallets, trays, multi-level racks, and machines by hand, as well as load or unload materials into or from trucks by hand or with equipment. Operating equipment inclusive of forklifts (electric or diesel powered), pickers, and pallet jacks (electric or manual) is also a key responsibility. Following all departmental material handling practices and procedures along with customer requirements while putting safety as a top priority is essential.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of material handling functions including receiving, transporting, storing, and ensuring accurate inventory.
• Open containers using hand tools.
• Counts, weighs, and samples materials.
• Utilize computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying and recording information.
• Handle the loads and unloads of materials onto or from pallets, trays, multi-level racks, and machines by hand.
• Loads or unloads materials into or from trucks by hand or with equipment.
• Operate equipment inclusive of forklifts (electric or diesel powered), pickers, and pallet jacks (electric or manual).
• Follow all departmental material handling practices and procedures along with customer requirements while prioritizing safety.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years relevant work experience.
• Proficient forklift operator.
• Experience in warehousing or manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Willing to work in a team environment.
• Ability to physically lift objects up to 40 lbs. independently.
• Availability to work overtime as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle based MRP system.
• Ability to use Zebra handheld scan gun equipment.
