About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. We currently have an opening for a User Support Manager I This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work This vacancy is open to current North Carolina state government and current UNC System employees only or previous NC state government and UNC System employees with unexpired RIF priority re-employment rights. Current temporary employees working in NC state government or in the UNC System will also be considered. This position is in DIT-Transportation and provides IT services to the NC Department of Transportation (DOT). Within the Transportation Division, the Business Relations Management (BRM) unit provides strategic planning, research, consulting and the implementation of process improvement actions that will administer industry best practices following all State and DOT policies and standards. Note: This managerial position reports daily to any area within Regions 1, 2 and 6 that includes the following counties: Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, Nash, Edgecombe, Wilson, Wake, Johnston, Durham, Franklin, Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Bertie, Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camde, Currituck, Dare, Tyrell, Washington, Martin, Beauford, Pitt, Hyde, Greene, Lenoir, Jones, Craven, Pamlico, Carteret, Onslow, Duplin, Pender, New Hanover, Brunswick, Columbus, Bladen, Sampson, Harnett, Cumberland, Bladen, Robeson.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in the information technology field OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive experience in the information technology field OR High School or GED and eight years of progressive experience in the information technology field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • This position serves as the Eastern Field Desktop Support Manager for Client Services.
  • Providing management oversight and governance, our teams provide our customers with the best possible service by being dependable, responsive and by taking ownership of each customer’s service request as well as managing the delivery and development of IT commodity products and services to end users.
  • These staff members provide knowledge and skills in the different types of computer hardware, software, peripherals and components, networking protocols and communications.
