About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT’s mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We currently have an opening for a User Support Analyst This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work The Early Career Associate Program is ideal for recent graduates, early-career professionals, or those looking to transition to a new career seeking broad exposure to state IT operations. The Early Career Associate Program is a two-year on-the-job training (OJT) program designed for individuals with three years or less of professional experience. After gaining exposure to the role through the development process, participants will have the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role based on mutual fit and career goals. The User Support Analyst analyzes and formulates new methods of applying computer technology for the solution of operational problems of the business units in DIT-Transportation within the Client Services Unit. Note: This position is located at Century Center (1020 Birch Ridge Dr, Raleigh, NC 27610) About the Division: The Client Services Unit provides technical direction and technical hardware and software support for the computerization efforts to DOT such as IT purchases, computer/printer/application maintenance, computer and peripheral hardware replacement, and data management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution plus one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the field of technology related to the position's role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Resolve routine and non-routine issues on software and/or hardware and make suggestions for technical modifications to solve future problems
  • Consult with clients and other IT professionals to resolve technical problems and ensure client satisfaction
  • Test products and applications through accurate data gathering, through analysis and provides valuable recommendations
  • Implement requirements of the IT Security Office and protect data from unauthorized access, alteration, destruction, or usage in a manner inconsistent with covered IT Security Policies and standards
