About The Position

Mudflap serves the $800B trucking industry, the backbone of the U.S. economy. Our market-leading payment products help truckers save thousands of dollars on fuel (their #1 business expense), while providing our fuel stop partners with access to new, hard-to-reach customers. We’re a fast-growing marketplace business looking for a new customer-obsessed teammate to join us on this exciting journey. As our first in-house User Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products. You’ll be responsible for deeply understanding the needs, behaviors, and pain points of a diverse set of users, including drivers, fleet owners, and fuel merchant partners. Working closely with product, design, and engineering teams, you will drive customer-centric solutions and enhance our user experience through both qualitative and quantitative research. This is a unique opportunity to define how user research is embedded across our products and to make a tangible impact on our multi-user ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in user research, preferably within a fast-paced tech or marketplace environment
  • Strong proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing, A/B testing, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize research data into clear insights and recommendations
  • Experience collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to advocate for the user
  • Experience with user research tools (e.g., Lookback, Optimal Workshop, UserTesting, etc.) and data analysis tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, etc.)
  • A growth mindset and curiosity to continuously learn and adapt research methods

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred industry experience in trucking, transportation, or related mobility sectors

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and field studies
  • Synthesize research findings into actionable insights and present them to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize user research in the product development process
  • Create personas, journey maps, and other artifacts to communicate research insights
  • Analyze and present both qualitative and quantitative data to inform design and product decisions
  • Advocate for the voice of the user in all stages of the product development lifecycle
  • Maintain a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors to help us improve existing products and design new solutions
