About The Position

HP Tuners LLC is a global leader in the automotive aftermarket, developing software and hardware for the best tuning and diagnostics solutions. To support our continual growth, we are expanding our team with the addition of a User Experience Designer. The User Experience Designer will be responsible for creating intuitive, engaging, and seamless user experiences for our digital products. The User Experience Designer will collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to design user interfaces and experiences that will help HP Tuners meet our business goals. This position reports to the Product Manager, Motorsports. This position requires a minimum of 4-days onsite work in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree Human Factors, Interactive Design, Visual Design or an equivalent degree focused on user centered design principles.
  • Excellent academics usually with a GPA greater or equal to 3.0
  • High effectiveness in communicating across cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them to diverse audiences. Ability to think critically about user needs and technical constraints.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and prioritization to deliver on business commitments in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment..

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the aftermarket car and/or automotive industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates intuitive, creative and highly usable solutions for a variety of product design challenges, including mobile desktop and hardware interfaces in a timely and organized manner.
  • Leads the design process for new experiences and improvements to existing experiences.
  • Balance innovation with user familiarity, leveraging established patterns and considering expectations shaped by current UI trends. Conduct user research, interviews, surveys, and usability testing to understand user needs, pain points, and behaviors.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, story boards and user flows to communicate research and design ideas clearly and efficiently.
  • Apply user-centered design principles and industry best practices to create engaging user experiences across web and mobile platforms.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs align with product vision and technical feasibility.
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems, ensuring consistency across products and platforms.
  • Plan and execute usability tests to gather feedback and iterate on designs based on user insights.
  • Stay updated on the latest UX trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve our design processes and user experience.
  • Understand product specifications and user psychology and predict which might work for both.
