About The Position

The Used Car Director/Group Buyer will lead the pre-owned vehicle department of a growing group of three dealerships. This role is pivotal in overseeing all operations related to used cars, including purchasing, pricing, sales, and inventory management, with a focus on driving sales growth, maximizing profitability, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive used car management, with at least 2 years in a director and management or leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in driving sales growth and maximizing profitability in the used car market.
  • Strong understanding of automotive financing, leasing, and insurance products.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verifiable references is a must!
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dealership management software.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive sales growth and increase market share in the pre-owned vehicle market.
  • Manage all aspects of the used car department, including inventory acquisition, pricing, merchandising, and reconditioning.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for business expansion and improvement.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor sales staff to ensure high levels of performance, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and marketing, to develop effective sales promotions, advertising campaigns, and pricing strategies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with wholesalers, auctions, and other suppliers to ensure a steady supply of high-quality used vehicles.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), such as inventory turnover, gross profit margin, and sales conversion rates, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to the sale and financing of used vehicles.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes, systems, and technologies to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
