SUMMARY Evaluates, appraises, and purchases vehicles at other car dealerships, credit unions, and auto auctions both in person and online to successfully stock the dealership. Provides the Used Vehicle Sales Department with a supply of marketable used vehicles within management’s guideline and dealerships needs. Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Acquire Inventory through different purchasing methods.
  • Create and establish a best practice to hold aged inventory for a maximum of 30-45 days.
  • Oversee pricing to establish a transparent pricing strategy.
  • Control inventory to lessen write downs through various methods (including but not limited to auctions, moving store to store and pricing.
  • Collaborate with General Manager for inventory to be current and profitable.
  • Appraise and determine the appropriate value of customer trade-in vehicles at the dealership.
  • Attend off site auctions and online auctions.
  • Determine the appropriate wholesale value of a vehicle in order to make a retail profit on the sale.
  • Estimate reconditioning costs to vehicles.
  • Understand market trends and changes to trends in our markets.
  • Negotiate for the best value of vehicles purchased on the street and online.
  • Formulate a weekly plan of what the purchasing needs are for the week.
  • Meet with Used Car Managers weekly one on one to identify condition of inventory. This meeting includes price adjustment, market conditions, sales and market trends.
  • Create a plan for the week regarding the needs and health of the Used Car Department. This should include but not limited to the financial health of the department.
  • Review all trades and purchases at this meeting.
  • Communicate with the Used Car Manager regarding trades, purchases, and process.
  • Establish the necessary training for the Used Car Department with V Auto Performance Manager and set up monthly training.
  • Review needs for training.
  • Set and maintain a monthly recap meeting with all 3 managers as a team.
  • Establish and maintain Kelly Blue Book Buying Center . This will include training, processing and collaborating with Management staff for team members’ participation.
  • Provide monthly reports to General Managers to determine productivity and operation cost vs profit.
  • Establish plan at all dealerships regarding recondition of all used vehicles utilizing I-Recon . Be Lead manager in holding all departments (Used Sales, Detail, Body Shop and Service) accountable to timeline.
  • Be the Car Bravo Champion for both Chevy dealerships. This will include working with Finance, Service, Sales, Accounting, General Motors and Tekion.
  • Collaborate with the Management team to create a positive and successful launch and future.
  • Review DMS and confirm inventory and information is correct.
  • Fill in for Used Car Mangers when needed due to vacation, absentee, or work-related issues.
  • Mentor and train sales team members on all tools regarding Used Vehicles.
  • Assist team members with handling customers and issues or concerns regarding Used Vehicle Inventory ensuring the highest standard are held for delivery of Vehicle to Customer.
  • Attend all Management meetings.
  • Provide experience, excellent communication, leadership skills and time management skills to all tasks and events.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Maintains a clean and professional work environment.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
