The Used Buyer is responsible for evaluating, purchasing, and reselling used photography, video, and electronics equipment directly from customers. This role operates on the sales floor, working face-to-face with sellers and buyers to assess gear, negotiate pricing, and support used sales activity. Responsibilities may evolve over time; employees may be asked to take on additional duties as needed to support business priorities. This role requires five on-site days weekly to ensure in-person collaboration, improved communication, effective teamwork, and real-time problem solving to enhance team synergy and productivity. A standard 40 hour work week is expected.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of new and used photography and video equipment
  • Ability to quickly assess condition and market value
  • Confident negotiation and customer communication skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • 2–3+ years of experience evaluating or selling photo/video equipment

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate used photography, video, and electronics equipment presented in-store for trade-in or direct purchase
  • Assess product condition, functionality, completeness, and cosmetic grading
  • Negotiate purchase price with customers while maintaining margin standards
  • Determine resale values based on inventory levels, item age, demand trends, and condition
  • Limit overstock exposure on slow-moving SKUs
  • Complete purchase transactions and required documentation accurately
  • Collaborate with inventory and operations teams to ensure purchased gear is processed efficiently
  • Ensure the department counter remains clean, organized, and well-maintained
  • Provide knowledgeable, customer-friendly service in person, by phone, and via email
  • Support used sales efforts by assisting customers with product recommendations
