Sells new or used automobiles, trucks, and vans on premises of vehicle sales establishment by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Greets customer and obtains their name and determines make, type, and quality of vehicle desired. Logs all prospective customers and maintains customer database. Explains features and demonstrates operation of vehicle. Demonstrates vehicles (includes test drives) Suggest optional equipment for customer to purchase. Computes and quotes sales price, including tax, trade-in allowance, license fee, and discount, and requirements for financing payment of vehicle on credit. Keeps abreast of incoming inventory, features, accessories etc. and how they benefit customers. Prepare sales slip or sales contract. Receives payment or obtains credit authorization. Keep abreast of technological changes in the product. Know and understand federal, state and local laws applicable to retail auto sales. Prospects for new business and follow up on current business. Attends training for certification required by the manufactures. Assists with lot merchandising of new and used vehicles. Works with service, body shop and reconditioning personnel to ensure vehicles are reconditioned as expected and on schedule. Attend sales and employee meetings. Arranges for delivery and registration of vehicle. Researches availability of models and optional equipment using computer database. Get along with others. Requires being at work on time and have satisfactory attendance. Any other duties assigned by management.
