About The Position

The Engineering Technician (Civil) position at ELYON International, in partnership with the USDA NRCS, involves providing essential support for various engineering projects and programs in Tennessee. The technician will work closely with agency staff to ensure projects are completed accurately and timely, while also maintaining compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of similar job experience.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Ability to operate surveying equipment and troubleshoot setup problems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations for construction projects.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat DC and similar software.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and small office machines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist agency staff with project documentation and implementation in the office and field.
  • Inventory and evaluate potential new project sites.
  • Lead and assist with engineering surveys for future designs and construction layout.
  • Conduct construction inspections and report findings to government representatives.
  • Evaluate construction materials to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Develop and maintain construction project job diaries and communicate with project stakeholders.
  • Assist with payment processing for non-inherently governmental activities.
  • Accomplish training and certification for Engineering Job Approval Authority (EJAA).
  • Develop and complete engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Review and provide comments on NRCS developed construction drawings and specifications.
  • Operate and troubleshoot various surveying equipment and agency-specific data systems.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, landowners, and agency personnel.
  • Assist with generating and distributing reports for various NRCS programs.
