About The Position

Vesta, Inc. is a not for profit, financially sound, mental health company which is expanding throughout the Maryland area. Vesta, Inc. provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare to include clinic, day program, and residential homes for those suffering from mental health disorders. We are currently seeking a Kitchen Cook with a special interest in working with individuals diagnosed with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) in our Oxon Hill location. This position is responsible for preparing and serving daily meals to clients in our program. Experience with meal preparation, meal planning, and budgeting needed. Hours for the position: Part-Time Tuesday-Thursday 7am-3pm

Requirements

  • Experience with USDA, commercial kitchens, and food handler's training.
  • Experience in the mental health field with severe and persistent mentally ill (SPMI) individuals or comparable experience.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day oversight of the kitchen.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks as per the nutritional guidelines and care plan recommendation., during morning and evening in the dining area.
  • Regularly scheduled inspections of the kitchen, ensure all meal preparation, meal selection, and kitchen standards are with federal and state regulation.
  • Keep the kitchen cleaned as per the Health Department requirements.
  • Place monthly order for bulk supply of food and supplies for the kitchen.
  • Maintain working inventory of all food and supplies.
  • Ensure that all food and supplies are present in the kitchen when needed.
  • Keep financial records of purchasing
  • Create nutritional menu monthly to include special diet.
  • Facilitate home economic groups and lifestyle training.
  • Cater social events and activities
