About The Position

Grey Street Consulting, LLC (Grey Street), a leading small business provider of operational support services to Federal civilian and defense agencies, is seeking to hire a Civil Rights Investigator/Intake Specialist to support our prospective client within the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio (USAO for the NDOH). NDOH is located in Cleveland, OH, and this position is to be performed onsite.

Requirements

  • A College Degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation of Tier 4 Public Trust background investigation.
  • At least six (6) years of experience working with Law enforcement and/or enforcement of Civil Rights statutes.
  • Familiarity with Civil Rights statutes, including the Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Experience and expertise necessary to perform the tasks and duties of the position listed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all investigative tasks associated with affirmative civil rights matters, including independently conducting interviews and records gathering for civil rights matters opened in the USAO or matters being investigated and/or litigated jointly with the Civil Rights Division.
  • Conduct preliminary inquiry into allegations and draft memoranda recommending whether to open a full civil investigation.
  • Plan and conduct full investigations independently.
  • Assess the specific nature of allegations.
  • Review allegations and supporting materials; conduct preliminary research.
  • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate in-depth affirmative civil rights investigations at locations throughout the District.
  • Draft documents and data requests designed to obtain all relevant information.
  • In consultation with civil rights AUSA’s, plan and conduct on-site investigations, including interviews with victims, witnesses, managers, and officials.
  • Utilize Concordance, Casemap, and/or Sanction software to plan and develop timelines or documentation that compile and present information gathered from the investigation.
  • Plan and manage databases cataloging voluminous evidence and investigative reports relating to allegations of federal civil rights violations.
  • Extract and categorize material obtained from the investigation for inclusion in the database.
  • Make necessary support arrangements with information system personnel and arrange for necessary litigation support.
  • Analyze information contained in applicable databases and prepare reports for review by civil rights AUSA’s, USAO management, and the Civil Rights Division.
  • Obtain information, confer, and coordinate with the Civil Rights Division and other Department of Justice (DOJ) components as necessary.
  • Plan and conduct necessary background legal research at the direction of civil rights AUSA’s.
  • Prepare factual summary and evaluation based on investigations and develop recommendations as to action that may be justified against particular jurisdictions or agencies.
